Community Engagement

As a leader in the economy and health care of Connecticut, we proactively work in partnership with state and local governments, non-profit organizations, and individuals to make each community we represent stronger through:

Community Collaboration

The Mohegan Tribe has long been committed to good relations with our neighbors near and far, and the Tribe continues to uphold this today as an integral part of our values and identity. The Mohegan Tribe has contributed over $13 million to regional charities and non-profit organizations over the past several years. Additionally, many Mohegan Tribal members serve on the boards of more than 50 non-profit organizations and dozens more volunteer their time. The Tribe remains committed to combating food insecurity in communities by offering resources and increased access to food for families in our very own community. Over the years, supported food drives have generated more than 73,000 food items for community members, while more than 100,000 meals have been donated to thousands of local households through United Way food pantries staffed by Mohegan employees. Additionally in Connecticut, the Mohegan Sun strives to support the community and local organizations like United Way, March of Dimes, Special Olympics Connecticut, and the American Red Cross.

Problem Gambling

The Mohegan Tribe has a long history as a leader in combating problem gambling, from employing the latest technologies and systems to serving as regional and national leaders in addressing these behavioral health challenges.

Our business recognizes that for most people, gambling is a social or recreational activity — something that is fun and entertaining. For others, gambling causes problems, becoming uncontrollable, and making it no longer a choice. We believe that it is our responsibility to be sensitive to our guests and our host community by proactively addressing problem gambling.

That is why we are proud to partner with Yale University on an initiative that will result in the creation of a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) digital intervention aimed at expanding treatment options for individuals suffering from problem gambling. Additionally, we have been strong champions and supporters of the CT Council on Problem Gambling, which continues to invest millions of dollars in critical programs to serve our customers and our community.

We want anyone who may have a problem to know that you don’t have to face this alone. We’ve compiled information on signs of problem gambling, a self-assessment, and resources to help you or a loved one at: www.mohegangaming.com/responsible-gaming/

Committed to Sustainability

Respect for Mother Earth has been a guiding principle for the Mohegan Tribe for centuries. The Tribe continues to support this principle through actions of environmental sustainability in its businesses. Mohegan Sun is recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) as one of the greenest resorts and casinos in the country. Forty percent of the power generated from Mohegan Sun is supplied in a carbon neutral manner, while 50% of the site is open space.

Investing in Mohegan Team

Within each Mohegan property lies its devoted team members, whose unwavering dedication brings dreams to life and turns moments into cherished memories. Mohegan stands as a champion of its workforce, nurturing a vibrant and inclusive work environment that celebrates diversity and empowers individuals. By providing competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and a robust employee support system, Mohegan ensures the well-being and prosperity of its staff. Furthermore, Mohegan offers innovative employee programs, ranging from professional development initiatives to wellness initiatives, and inspire personal growth.

Investing in Local Economies

The Mohegan Tribe is proud to call Eastern Connecticut home; the region is a hidden gem in our state. We celebrate its unique communities and natural beauty. We are fortunate to have access to beautiful beaches, charming towns and bustling cities. In 1996, Mohegan Sun has helped expand our region’s economy significantly as one of Connecticut’s largest employers. It generates over $200 million dollars to the state’s economy each year through business enterprises and boosts tourism and the hospitality industry locally.

As Mohegan continues to expand internationally, the Tribe will always recognize its responsibility to its host communities.
